सा बराह्मणं दता दृष्ट्वा संस्थितं भैक्ष काङ्क्षिणम कुर्वती पतिशुश्रूषां सस्माराथ शुभेक्षणा ॥ ३-१९७-१६ ॥
'While the lady with beautiful eyes was still engaged in attending to her lord, she noticed the Brahmana waiting for alms. Upon seeing him, she remembered that she had asked him to wait.' ॥ 3-197-16 ॥
english translation
वरीडिता साभवत साध्वी तदा भरतसत्तम भिक्षाम आदाय विप्राय निर्जगाम यशस्विनी ॥ ३-१९७-१७ ॥
'Remembering all this, the chaste woman, overwhelmed with modesty, felt a sense of shame. Yet, endowed with great renown, she gathered alms and, O foremost of the Bharatas, went forth with resolve to offer it to that Brahmana.' ॥ 3-197-17 ॥
english translation
[बरा] किम इदं भवति तवं मां तिष्ठेत्य उक्त्वा वराङ्गने उपरॊधं कृतवती न विसर्जितवत्य असि ॥ ३-१९७-१८ ॥
'The Brahmana said, "O best of women, O blessed one, I am astonished at your conduct! You bid me stay, saying 'Stay,' yet you did not release me!"' ॥ 3-197-18 ॥
english translation
[मार्क] बराह्मणं करॊधसंतप्तं जवलन्तम इव तेजसा दृष्ट्वा साध्वी मनुष्येन्द्र सान्त्वपूर्वं वचॊ ऽबरवीत ॥ ३-१९७-१९ ॥
'Markandeya continued, "O lord of men, seeing that Brahmana consumed by anger and radiating intense energy, the chaste woman, with great composure, began to soothe him and spoke these words:"' ॥ 3-197-19 ॥
english translation
कषन्तुम अर्हसि मे विप्र भर्ता मे दैवतं महत स चापि कषुधितः शरान्तः पराप्तः शुश्रूषितॊ मया ॥ ३-१९७-२० ॥
'The chaste woman said, "O learned one, it behoveth thee to forgive me. My husband is my supreme god. He came hungry and tired, and I was attending to his needs and serving him."' ॥ 3-197-20 ॥
