तत्र रौद्रॊ दानवेन्द्रॊ महावीर्यपराक्रमः मधुकैटभयॊः पुत्रॊ धुन्धुर नाम सुदारुणः ॥ ३-१९३-१६ ॥

'In this desert resides Dhundhu, the chief of the Danavas. Dhundhu, the son of Madhu and Kaitabha, is fierce and terrible, endowed with great prowess.' ॥ 3-193-16 ॥

english translation

tatra raudrò dAnavendrò mahAvIryaparAkramaH madhukaiTabhayòH putrò dhundhura nAma sudAruNaH ॥ 3-193-16 ॥

अन्तर्भूमि गतॊ राजन वसत्य अमितविक्रमः तं निहत्य महाराज वनं तवं गन्तुम अर्हसि ॥ ३-१९३-१७ ॥

'And, O king, that Danava, endowed with immeasurable energy, dwells beneath the earth. It is fitting for you to retire into the woods after slaying that Asura.' ॥ 3-193-17 ॥

english translation

antarbhUmi gatò rAjana vasatya amitavikramaH taM nihatya mahArAja vanaM tavaM gantuma arhasi ॥ 3-193-17 ॥

शेते लॊकविनाशाय तप आस्थाय दारुणम तरिदशानां विनाशाय लॊकानां चापि पार्थिव ॥ ३-१९३-१८ ॥

'That Asura now lies in a deep state of ascetic penance, marked by great austerity. O king, his goal is to gain sovereignty over the celestials as well as the three worlds.' ॥ 3-193-18 ॥

zete lòkavinAzAya tapa AsthAya dAruNama taridazAnAM vinAzAya lòkAnAM cApi pArthiva ॥ 3-193-18 ॥

अवध्यॊ देवतानां स दैत्यानाम अथ रक्षसाम नागानाम अथ यक्षाणां गन्धर्वाणां च सर्वशः अवाप्य स वरं राजन सर्वलॊकपितामहात ॥ ३-१९३-१९ ॥

'And, O king, having obtained a boon from the Grandsire of all beings, that Asura has become invincible to the gods, Daityas, Rakshasas, and Gandharvas.' ॥ 3-193-19 ॥

avadhyò devatAnAM sa daityAnAma atha rakSasAma nAgAnAma atha yakSANAM gandharvANAM ca sarvazaH avApya sa varaM rAjana sarvalòkapitAmahAta ॥ 3-193-19 ॥

तं विनाशय भद्रं ते मा ते बुद्धिर अतॊ ऽनयथा पराप्स्यसे महतीं कीर्तिं शाश्वतीम अव्ययां धरुवाम ॥ ३-१९३-२० ॥

'Slay him, O king, and may you be blessed! Let not your heart turn to any other course. By slaying him, you will undoubtedly accomplish a great feat, and you will gain eternal and undying fame.' ॥ 3-193-20 ॥

taM vinAzaya bhadraM te mA te buddhira atò 'nayathA parApsyase mahatIM kIrtiM zAzvatIma avyayAM dharuvAma ॥ 3-193-20 ॥
