तम अब्रवीद ऋषिः ददानि ते वाम्य कृतकार्येण भवता ममैव निर्यात्यौ कषिप्रम इति ॥ ३-१९०-५१ ॥
'The sage then replied: 'I give you my pair of Vami horses. However, once you have accomplished your task, you must return swiftly with the pair.'' ॥ 3-190-51 ॥
english translation
tama abravIda RSiH dadAni te vAmya kRtakAryeNa bhavatA mamaiva niryAtyau kaSiprama iti ॥ 3-190-51 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस च ताव अश्वौ परतिगृह्यानुज्ञाप्य चर्षिं परायाद वाम्य संयुक्तेन रथेन मृगं परति गच्छंश चाब्रवीत सूतम अश्वरत्नाव इमाव अयॊग्यौ बराह्मणानाम नैतौ परतिदेयौ वामदेवायेति ॥ ३-१९०-५२ ॥
'The king, having taken the steeds and obtained the sage's permission, yoked the Vami pair to his chariot and pursued the deer. After leaving the hermitage, he spoke to his charioteer: 'These steed-jewels do not deserve to be in the possession of the Brahmanas. They should not be returned to Vamadeva.'' ॥ 3-190-52 ॥
english translation
sa ca tAva azvau paratigRhyAnujJApya carSiM parAyAda vAmya saMyuktena rathena mRgaM parati gacchaMza cAbravIta sUtama azvaratnAva imAva ayògyau barAhmaNAnAma naitau paratideyau vAmadevAyeti ॥ 3-190-52 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवम उक्त्वा मृगम अवाप्य सवनगरम एत्याश्वावन्तःपुरे ऽसथापयत ॥ ३-१९०-५३ ॥
'Having said this and seized the deer, he returned to his capital and placed the steeds in the inner chambers of the palace.' ॥ 3-190-53 ॥

evama uktvA mRgama avApya savanagarama etyAzvAvantaHpure 'sathApayata ॥ 3-190-53 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथर्षिश चिन्तयाम आस तरुणॊ राजपुत्रः कल्याणं पत्रम आसाद्य रमते न मे परतिनिर्यातयति अहॊ कष्टम इति ॥ ३-१९०-५४ ॥
'Meanwhile, the sage reflected: 'The prince is young. Having obtained an excellent pair of steeds, he is delighting in them and not returning them to me. Alas, what a misfortune!'' ॥ 3-190-54 ॥

atharSiza cintayAma Asa taruNò rAjaputraH kalyANaM patrama AsAdya ramate na me paratiniryAtayati ahò kaSTama iti ॥ 3-190-54 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमनसा निश्चित्य मासि पूर्णे शिष्यम अब्रवीत गच्छात्रेय राजानं बरूहि यदि पर्याप्तं निर्यातयॊपाध्याय वाम्येति ॥ ३-१९०-५५ ॥
'After reflecting thus, the sage spoke to his disciple, Atreya, after the passage of a month: 'Go, O Atreya, and tell the king that if he has completed his task with the Vami steeds, he should return them to your teacher.'' ॥ 3-190-55 ॥
