दृष्ट्वैव च तां तस्यैव तीरे सहैव तया देव्या वयतिष्ठत ॥ ३-१९०-२६ ॥
'Upon seeing the tank, the king, along with his divine wife, stood together on its bank.' ॥ 3-190-26 ॥
english translation
dRSTvaiva ca tAM tasyaiva tIre sahaiva tayA devyA vayatiSThata ॥ 3-190-26 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअथ तां देवीं स राजाब्रवीत साधुव अवतर वापी सलिलम इति ॥ ३-१९०-२७ ॥
'The king said to his beloved wife, "Cheerfully, you must plunge into this water!"' ॥ 3-190-27 ॥
english translation
atha tAM devIM sa rAjAbravIta sAdhuva avatara vApI salilama iti ॥ 3-190-27 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसा तद वचॊ शरुत्वावतीर्य वापीं नयमज्जत न पुनर उदमज्जत ॥ ३-१९०-२८ ॥
'Hearing those words, she plunged into the tank. But after submerging, she did not rise to the surface again.' ॥ 3-190-28 ॥

sA tada vacò zarutvAvatIrya vApIM nayamajjata na punara udamajjata ॥ 3-190-28 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतां मृगयमाणॊ राजा नापश्यत ॥ ३-१९०-२९ ॥
'As the king searched, he failed to find any trace of her.' ॥ 3-190-29 ॥

hk transliteration by Sanscriptवापीम अपि निःस्राव्य मण्डूकं शवभ्रमुखे दृष्ट्वा करुद्धाज्ञापयाम आस सर्वमण्डूक वधः करियताम इति यॊ मयार्थी स मृतकरि मण्डूकैर उपायनैर माम उपतिष्ठेद इति ॥ ३-१९०-३० ॥
'The king ordered the waters of the tank to be drained, and there he saw a frog sitting at the mouth of a hole. Enraged by this, he issued a decree, saying, "Let frogs be slaughtered throughout my kingdom! Anyone wishing to meet me must present themselves with a tribute of dead frogs."' ॥ 3-190-30 ॥

vApIma api niHsrAvya maNDUkaM zavabhramukhe dRSTvA karuddhAjJApayAma Asa sarvamaNDUka vadhaH kariyatAma iti yò mayArthI sa mRtakari maNDUkaira upAyanaira mAma upatiSTheda iti ॥ 3-190-30 ॥
