ततः कदा चित पश्यामि तस्मिन सलिलसंप्लवे नयग्रॊधं सुमहान्तं वै विशालं पृथिवीपते ॥ ३-१८६-८१ ॥

'After some time, I behold, in that vast expanse of accumulated waters, a great banyan tree, stretching wide, O Lord of the Earth!' ॥ 3-186-81 ॥

tataH kadA cita pazyAmi tasmina salilasaMplave nayagròdhaM sumahAntaM vai vizAlaM pRthivIpate ॥ 3-186-81 ॥

शाखायां तस्य वृक्षस्य विस्तीर्णायां नराधिप पर्यङ्के पृथिवीपाल दिव्यास्तरण संस्तृते ॥ ३-१८६-८२ ॥

'And then, O Bharata, I behold a boy seated upon a conch, O King, adorned with a celestial bed.' ॥ 3-186-82 ॥

zAkhAyAM tasya vRkSasya vistIrNAyAM narAdhipa paryaGke pRthivIpAla divyAstaraNa saMstRte ॥ 3-186-82 ॥

उपविष्टं महाराज पूर्णेन्दुसदृशाननम फुल्लपद्मविशालाक्षं बालं पश्यामि भारत ॥ ३-१८६-८३ ॥

'His face, O great King, is as fair as the lotus or the moon, and his eyes, O ruler of men, are large like the petals of a fully bloomed lotus.' ॥ 3-186-83 ॥

ततॊ मे पृथिवीपाल विस्मयः सुमहान अभूत कथं तव अयं शिशुः शेते लॊके नाशम उपागते ॥ ३-१८६-८४ ॥

'And at this sight, O Lord of the Earth, wonder filled my heart. I asked myself, 'How does this boy alone remain here when the world itself has been destroyed?'' ॥ 3-186-84 ॥

tatò me pRthivIpAla vismayaH sumahAna abhUta kathaM tava ayaM zizuH zete lòke nAzama upAgate ॥ 3-186-84 ॥

तपसा चिन्तयंश चापि तं शिशुं नॊपलक्षये भूतं भव्यं भविष्यच च जानन्न अपि नराधिप ॥ ३-१८६-८५ ॥

'And, O King, though I possess complete knowledge of the past, the present, and the future, I was unable to comprehend anything about this through even my ascetic meditation.' ॥ 3-186-85 ॥
