मिथ्या च नखरॊमाणि धारयन्ति नरास तदा अर्थलॊभान नरव्याघ्र वृथा च बरह्मचारिणः ॥ ३-१८६-४१ ॥
'Meanwhile, Brahmanas, falsely assuming the garb of ascetics, earn wealth through trade, with their nails and hair untrimmed. Many of the twice-born, driven by greed for wealth, take to the life of mendicants, pretending to follow the Brahmacharin order.' ॥ 3-186-41 ॥
english translation
आश्रमेषु वृथाचाराः पानपा गुरुतल्पगाः ऐह लौकिकम ईहन्ते मांसशॊणितवर्धनम ॥ ३-१८६-४२ ॥
'And, O monarch, during such times, men abandon their rightful modes of life, becoming addicted to intoxicating drinks and even violating the beds of their preceptors. Their desires are entirely worldly, devoted to pursuits that gratify the flesh and blood.' ॥ 3-186-42 ॥
english translation
बहु पाषण्ड संकीर्णाः परान्न गुणवादिनः आश्रमा मनुजव्याघ्रन भवन्ति युगक्षये ॥ ३-१८६-४३ ॥
'And, O tiger among men, during such times, the asylums of ascetics become filled with sinful and audacious wretches, who incessantly praise lives of dependence.' ॥ 3-186-43 ॥
english translation
यथर्तु वर्षी भगवान न तथा पाकशासनः न तदा सर्वबीजानि सम्यग रॊहन्ति भारत अधर्मफलम अत्यर्थं तदा भवति चानघ ॥ ३-१८६-४४ ॥
'The mighty chastiser of Paka no longer sends rain in due season, and the seeds scattered upon the earth, O Bharata, fail to sprout. Men, corrupt in both deed and thought, delight in envy and malice.' ॥ 3-186-44 ॥
english translation
तथा च पृथिवीपाल यॊ भवेद धर्मसंयुतः अल्पायुः स हि मन्तव्यॊ न हि धर्मॊ ऽसति कश चन ॥ ३-१८६-४५ ॥
'And, O sinless one, the earth becomes filled with sin and immorality. O lord of the earth, he who becomes virtuous during such times does not live long. Indeed, the earth is deprived of virtue in every form.' ॥ 3-186-45 ॥
