तयॊः सुतुमुलं युद्धं शाल्व वृष्णिप्रवीरयॊः समेता ददृशुर लॊका बलिवासवयॊर इव ॥ ३-१८-११ ॥
'The onlookers witnessed a battle between Salwa and the foremost of Vrishni heroes, a clash as dramatic as that between Vasava and Vali.' ॥ 3-18-11 ॥
english translation
तस्य मायामयॊ वीर रथॊ हेमपरिष्कृतः सध्वजः सपताकश च सानुकर्षः सतूणवान ॥ ३-१८-१२ ॥
'And, O hero, mounting his splendid chariot adorned with gold, flags, and quivers, the illustrious Salwa began to discharge his arrows at Pradyumna.' ॥ 3-18-12 ॥

स तं रथवरं शरीमान समारुह्य किल परभॊ मुमॊच बाणान कौरव्य परद्युम्नाय महाबलः ॥ ३-१८-१३ ॥
'The mighty Pradyumna, wielding the power of his arms, responded with a dense volley of arrows, overwhelming Salwa in the battle.' ॥ 3-18-13 ॥

ततॊ बाणमयं वर्षं वयसृजत तरसा रणे परद्युम्नॊ भुजवेगेन शाल्वं संमॊहयन्न इव ॥ ३-१८-१४ ॥
'However, the king of Saubha, unable to withstand Pradyumna’s onslaught, launched a barrage of blazing fire-like arrows at my son. Yet, Pradyumna skillfully deflected this fiery rain of arrows.' ॥ 3-18-14 ॥

स तैर अभिहतः संख्ये नामर्षयत सौभराट शरान दीप्ताग्निसंकाशान मुमॊच तनये मम ॥ ३-१८-१५ ॥
'Struck by them in battle, the lord of Saubha did not become angry. He released arrows, blazing like fire, upon my son.' ॥ 3-18-15 ॥
