जगुश च गाथा विविधा गन्धर्वाः सुरचॊदिताः ननृतुः संघशश चैव राजन्न अप्सरसां गणाः ॥ ३-१७२-१६ ॥
'Sent by the celestials, the Gandharvas sang various ballads, and, O monarch, hosts of Apsaras danced there.' ॥ 3-172-16 ॥
english translation
jaguza ca gAthA vividhA gandharvAH suracòditAH nanRtuH saMghazaza caiva rAjanna apsarasAM gaNAH ॥ 3-172-16 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्मिंस तु तुमुले काले नारदः सुरचॊदितः आगम्याह वचॊ पार्थं शरवणीयम इदं नृप ॥ ३-१७२-१७ ॥
'At that tumultuous moment, Narada, urged by the celestials, arrived and spoke these words to Partha, words worthy of being heard, O King.' ॥ 3-172-17 ॥

tasmiMsa tu tumule kAle nAradaH suracòditaH AgamyAha vacò pArthaM zaravaNIyama idaM nRpa ॥ 3-172-17 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअर्जुनार्जुन मा युङ्क्ष्व दिव्यान्य अस्त्राणि भारत नैतानि निरधिष्ठाने परयुज्यन्ते कदा चन ॥ ३-१७२-१८ ॥
'O Arjuna, do not discharge these celestial weapons. They should never be used without just cause.' ॥ 3-172-18 ॥

arjunArjuna mA yuGkSva divyAnya astrANi bhArata naitAni niradhiSThAne parayujyante kadA cana ॥ 3-172-18 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअधिष्ठाने न वानार्तः परयुञ्जीत कदा चन परयॊगे सुमहान दॊषॊ हय अस्त्राणां कुरुनन्दन ॥ ३-१७२-१९ ॥
'Even when the cause is present, they should not be hurled unless one is in dire necessity. For, O son of the Kurus, to discharge these weapons without occasion is fraught with great evil.' ॥ 3-172-19 ॥

adhiSThAne na vAnArtaH parayuJjIta kadA cana parayòge sumahAna dòSò haya astrANAM kurunandana ॥ 3-172-19 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएतानि रक्ष्यमाणानि धनंजय यथागमम बलवन्ति सुखार्हाणि भविष्यन्ति न संशयः ॥ ३-१७२-२० ॥
'And, O Dhananjaya, when properly preserved as you have been instructed, these powerful weapons will undoubtedly contribute to your strength and happiness.' ॥ 3-172-20 ॥

etAni rakSyamANAni dhanaMjaya yathAgamama balavanti sukhArhANi bhaviSyanti na saMzayaH ॥ 3-172-20 ॥
