तवया हि तीर्थेषु पुरा समाप्लावः कृतॊ ऽसकृत तपश चेदं पुरा तप्तं सवर्गं गन्तासि पाण्डव ॥ ३-१६४-२१ ॥
'Then, O best of the Bharatas, I have manifested myself before you. Just as you once performed ablutions in the sacred tirthas and have now undertaken severe austerities, so you will be able to ascend to the celestial realms, O Pandava.' ॥ 3-164-21 ॥
english translation
भूयॊ चैव तु तप्तव्यं तपॊ परमदारुणम उवाच भगवान सर्वं तपसश चॊपपादनम ॥ ३-१६४-२२ ॥
'However, you will have to undergo even more severe penance, for you must, in any case, journey to heaven.' ॥ 3-164-22 ॥
english translation
मातलिर मन्नियॊगात तवां तरिदिवं परापयिष्यति विदितस तवं हि देवानाम ऋषीणां च महात्मनाम ॥ ३-१६४-२३ ॥
'At my command, Matali shall take you to the celestial realms. You have already been acknowledged by the gods and the great sages of the heavens.' ॥ 3-164-23 ॥

ततॊ ऽहम अब्रुवं शक्रं परसीद भगवन मम आचार्यं वरये तवाहम अस्त्रार्थं तरिदशेश्वर ॥ ३-१६४-२४ ॥
'Thereupon, I said to Sakra, 'O divine one, be favorable unto me. I seek your guidance as my preceptor, with the intention of learning the art of arms.'' ॥ 3-164-24 ॥

[इन्द्र] करूरं कर्मास्त्रवित तात करिष्यसि परंतप यदर्थम अस्त्राणीप्सुस तवं तं कामं पाण्डवाप्नुहि ॥ ३-१६४-२५ ॥
'At this, Indra said, "O child, having learned the art of weapons, you will perform mighty deeds. With this goal in mind, you seek these arms. Therefore, obtain them, as you desire."' ॥ 3-164-25 ॥
