ततः समभवद रक्षॊ घॊराक्षं भीमदर्शनम अब्रूतां तौ तदा रैभ्यं किं कार्यं करवामहे ॥ ३-१३७-११ ॥
'From the flames emerged a fearsome demon, with fierce, glaring eyes. Then the two said to Raivya, "What shall we do?"' ॥ 3-137-11 ॥
english translation
ताव अब्रवीद ऋषिः करुद्धॊ यवक्रीर वध्यताम इति जग्मतुस तौ तथेत्य उक्त्वा यवक्रीत जिघांसया ॥ ३-१३७-१२ ॥
'Enraged, the sage commanded them, "Go and slay Yavakri." Replying, "We shall obey your command," they both departed with the intent to kill Yavakri.' ॥ 3-137-12 ॥
english translation
ततस तं समुपास्थाय कृत्या सृष्टा महात्मना कमण्डलुं जहारास्य मॊहयित्वा तु भारत ॥ ३-१३७-१३ ॥
'And with her enchantments, the woman created by the great sage took away Yavakri's sacred water-pot.' ॥ 3-137-13 ॥
english translation
उच्चिष्टं तु यवक्रीतम अपकृष्ट कमण्डलुम तत उद्यतशूलः स राक्षसः समुपाद्रवत ॥ ३-१३७-१४ ॥
'Then, deprived of his water-pot and rendered unclean, Yavakri was attacked by the demon, who advanced upon him, spear raised.' ॥ 3-137-14 ॥

तम आपतन्तं संप्रेक्ष्य शूलहस्तं जिघांसया यवक्रीः सहसॊत्थाय पराद्रवद येन वै सरः ॥ ३-१३७-१५ ॥
'Seeing the demon approach with his spear raised, intent on slaying him, Yavakri suddenly sprang to his feet and fled toward a pond.' ॥ 3-137-15 ॥
