जलहीनं सरॊ दृष्ट्वा यवक्रीस तवरितः पुनः जगाम सरितः सर्वास ताश चाप्य आसन विशॊषिताः ॥ ३-१३७-१६ ॥
'However, finding it devoid of water, he hurried toward all the rivers, only to find that they too had dried up.' ॥ 3-137-16 ॥
english translation
स काल्यमानॊ घॊरेण शूलहस्तेन रक्षसा अग्निहॊत्रं पितुर भीतः सहसा समुपाद्रवत ॥ ३-१३७-१७ ॥
'And as the fierce demon with the spear repeatedly obstructed him, Yavakri, filled with fear, attempted to take refuge in his father's Agnihotra chamber.' ॥ 3-137-17 ॥
english translation
स वै परविशमानस तु शूद्रेणान्धेन रक्षिणा निगृहीतॊ बलाद दवारि सॊ ऽवातिष्ठत पार्थिव ॥ ३-१३७-१८ ॥
'But, O king, there the blind Sudra warder repulsed him, and Yavakri remained trapped at the door, gripped by the man.' ॥ 3-137-18 ॥
english translation
निगृहीतं तु शूद्रेण यवक्रीतं स राक्षसः ताडयाम आस शूलेन स भिन्नहृदयॊ ऽपतत ॥ ३-१३७-१९ ॥
'Upon seeing Yavakri thus caught, the demon hurled his spear at him, striking him in the heart. Yavakri fell dead, pierced by the deadly weapon.' ॥ 3-137-19 ॥

यवक्रीतं स हत्वा तु राक्षसॊ रैभ्यम आगमत अनुज्ञातस तु रैभ्येण तया नार्या सहाचरत ॥ ३-१३७-२० ॥
'After slaying him, the demon returned to Raivya and, with the sage’s permission, began to live with the female.' ॥ 3-137-20 ॥
