[ल] तं दृष्ट्वा घॊरवदनं मदं देवः शतक्रतुः आयान्तं भक्षयिष्यन्तं वयात्ताननम इवान्तकम ।। ३-१२५-१ ।।

sanskrit

'Lomasa said, "When the god who had performed a hundred sacrifices (Indra) saw the fearsome demon Mada approaching with his mouth agape, intent on devouring him, resembling the god of death himself..."' ।। 3-125-1 ।।

english translation

[la] taM dRSTvA ghòravadanaM madaM devaH zatakratuH AyAntaM bhakSayiSyantaM vayAttAnanama ivAntakama || 3-125-1 ||

भयात संस्तम्भित भुजः सृक्किणी लेलिहन मुहुः ततॊ ऽबरवीद देवराजश चयवनं भयपीडितः ।। ३-१२५-२ ।।

'While his own arms remained paralyzed, he repeatedly licked the corners of his mouth in fear. Then, the lord of the celestials, tormented by terror, spoke to Chyavana, saying;' ।। 3-125-2 ।।

bhayAta saMstambhita bhujaH sRkkiNI lelihana muhuH tatò 'baravIda devarAjaza cayavanaM bhayapIDitaH || 3-125-2 ||

'My undertaking shall never fail. Let this be the decree. And I know, O sage of the priestly class, that your actions are always fruitful.' ।। 3-125-4 ।।

na te mithyA samArambhò bhavatva eSa parò vidhiH jAnAmi cAhaM viprarSe na mithyA tavaM kariSyasi || 3-125-4 ||

सॊमार्हाव अश्विनाव एतौ यथैवाद्य कृतौ तवया भूय एव तु ते वीर्यं परकाशेद इति भार्गव ।। ३-१२५-५ ।।

'From now on, these two Aswins shall have the right to partake of the Soma juice, for you have granted them that entitlement. And, O son of Bhrigu, my actions were intended solely to magnify your glory and showcase the extent of your powers. It was my desire to provide you an opportunity to display your remarkable strength and authority.' ।। 3-125-5 ।।
