चुकॊप भार्गवश चापि महेन्द्रस्य महातपाः संस्तम्भयाम आस च तं वासवं चयवनः परभुः सुकङ्क्यां चापि भार्यां स राजपुत्रीम इवाप्तवान ।। ३-१२१-२१ ।।

sanskrit

'It was here that Bhrigu's son, renowned for his severe penance, grew angry with the great Indra. Consequently, the powerful Chyavana immobilized Indra and, as a result, won the hand of the princess, Sukanya.' ।। 3-121-21 ।।

english translation

cukòpa bhArgavaza cApi mahendrasya mahAtapAH saMstambhayAma Asa ca taM vAsavaM cayavanaH parabhuH sukaGkyAM cApi bhAryAM sa rAjaputrIma ivAptavAna || 3-121-21 ||

[य] कथं विष्टम्भितस तेन भगवान पाकशासनः किमर्थं भार्गवश चापि कॊपं चक्रे महातपाः ।। ३-१२१-२२ ।।

sanskrit

'Yudhishthira inquired, "O Brahmana, how did Chyavana, the chastiser of the demon Paka and the god endowed with six attributes, manage to paralyze Indra? For what reason did the mighty sage harbor anger towards the Lord of the Devas?"' ।। 3-121-22 ।।

english translation

[ya] kathaM viSTambhitasa tena bhagavAna pAkazAsanaH kimarthaM bhArgavaza cApi kòpaM cakre mahAtapAH || 3-121-22 ||

नासत्यौ च कथं बरह्मन कृतवान सॊमपीथिनौ एतत सर्वं यथावृत्तम आख्यातु भगवान मम ।। ३-१२१-२३ ।।

'And how did he elevate the celestial physicians to the status of Soma drinkers? I implore you to recount these events to me in the exact manner in which they occurred.' ।। 3-121-23 ।।

nAsatyau ca kathaM barahmana kRtavAna sòmapIthinau etata sarvaM yathAvRttama AkhyAtu bhagavAna mama || 3-121-23 ||
