ते तं जघ्नुर महावीर्यम अयुध्यन्तं तपॊ विनम असकृद राम रामेति विक्रॊशन्तम अनाथवत ।। ३-११६-२६ ।।

sanskrit

'They killed him there; for despite his great strength, he was engaged in penance and refused to fight. As he was beset by his enemies, he helplessly cried out the name of Rama in a pitiful tone.' ।। 3-116-26 ।।

english translation

te taM jaghnura mahAvIryama ayudhyantaM tapò vinama asakRda rAma rAmeti vikròzantama anAthavata || 3-116-26 ||

hk transliteration

कार्तवीर्यस्य पुत्रास तु जमदग्निं युधिष्ठिर घातयित्वा शरैर जग्मुर यथागतम अरिंदमाः ।। ३-११६-२७ ।।

sanskrit

'And, O Yudhishthira, the sons of Kartavirya struck Jamadagni with their arrows, and having vanquished their foe, they departed.' ।। 3-116-27 ।।

english translation

kArtavIryasya putrAsa tu jamadagniM yudhiSThira ghAtayitvA zaraira jagmura yathAgatama ariMdamAH || 3-116-27 ||

hk transliteration

अपक्रान्तेषु चैतेषु जमदग्नौ तथागते समित पाणिर उपागच्छद आश्रमं भृगुनन्दनः ।। ३-११६-२८ ।।

sanskrit

'After they had gone and Jamadagni had breathed his last, Rama, the beloved of Bhrigu's line, returned to the hermitage, carrying fuel for the sacred rites in his arms.' ।। 3-116-28 ।।

english translation

apakrAnteSu caiteSu jamadagnau tathAgate samita pANira upAgacchada AzramaM bhRgunandanaH || 3-116-28 ||

hk transliteration

स दृष्ट्वा पितरं वीरस तथा मृत्युवशं गतम अनर्हन्तं तथा भूतं विललाप सुदुःखितः ।। ३-११६-२९ ।।

sanskrit

'And the hero beheld his father, slain and fallen. Overwhelmed with grief, he began to lament the unjust fate that had brought his father to such a tragic end.' ।। 3-116-29 ।।

english translation

sa dRSTvA pitaraM vIrasa tathA mRtyuvazaM gatama anarhantaM tathA bhUtaM vilalApa suduHkhitaH || 3-116-29 ||
