तान आनुपूर्व्याद भगवान वधे मातुर अचॊदयत न च ते जातसंमॊहाः किं चिद ऊचुर वि चेतसः ॥ ३-११६-११ ॥

'The mighty sage instructed each of them, one by one, to end their mother's life. However, they were utterly bewildered and lost their resolve, unable to speak a word.' ॥ 3-116-11 ॥

english translation

ततः शशाप तान कॊपात ते शप्ताश चेतनां जहुः मृगपक्षिस धर्माणः कषिप्रम आसञ जडॊपमाः ॥ ३-११६-१२ ॥

'In his anger, he cursed them, causing them to lose their senses and rendering them as lifeless as beasts and birds.' ॥ 3-116-12 ॥

english translation

ततॊ रामॊ ऽभयगात पश्चाद आश्रमं परवीर हा तम उवाच महामन्युर जमदग्निर महातपाः ॥ ३-११६-१३ ॥

'Finally, Rama, the slayer of formidable foes, arrived at the hermitage. The mighty-armed Jamadagni, renowned for his great austerities, turned to him and said;' ॥ 3-116-13 ॥

english translation

जहीमां मातरं पापां मा च पुत्र वयथां कृथाः तत आदाय परशुं रामॊ मातुः शिरॊ ऽहरत ॥ ३-११६-१४ ॥

'‘Kill this wicked mother of yours without hesitation, O my son.’ With these words, Rama swiftly took up an axe and severed his mother’s head.' ॥ 3-116-14 ॥

english translation

ततस तस्य महाराज जमदग्नेर महात्मनः कॊपॊ अगच्छत सहसा परसन्नश चाब्रवीद इदम ॥ ३-११६-१५ ॥

'Then, O great king, the wrath of Jamadagni, the mighty-souled sage, was instantly appeased. Pleased, he spoke the following words:' ॥ 3-116-15 ॥
