ततः सनुषां स भगवान परहृष्टॊ भृगुर अब्रवीत वरं वृणीष्व सुभगे दाता हय अस्मि तवेप्सितम ॥ ३-११५-२१ ॥
'And then the revered sage Bhrigu, filled with joy, addressed his daughter-in-law, saying, 'O beautiful one, I am ready to grant you any boon you desire.'' ॥ 3-115-21 ॥
english translation
सा वै परसादयाम आस तं गुरुं पुत्रकारणात आत्मनश चैव मातुश च परसादं च चकार सः ॥ ३-११५-२२ ॥
'Upon this, she requested his favor, asking that both she and her mother might be blessed with a son. The sage graciously granted her request.' ॥ 3-115-22 ॥
english translation
[भृ] ऋतौ तवं चैव माता च सनाते पुंसवनाय वै आलिङ्गेतां पृथग वृक्षौ साश्वत्थं तवम उदुम्बरम ॥ ३-११५-२३ ॥
'Bhrigu said, "During the appropriate season, you and your mother should perform the ritual for conceiving a male child. After bathing, you must separately embrace two different trees—your mother should embrace a peepal tree, and you should embrace a fig tree."' ॥ 3-115-23 ॥
english translation
आलिङ्गने तु ते राजंश चक्रतुः सम विपर्ययम कदा चिद भृगुर आगच्छत तं च वेद विपर्ययम ॥ ३-११५-२४ ॥
'O King, during their embrace, they performed a complete exchange (of identities), and when Bhrigu happened to arrive, he discovered this exchange/confusion.' ॥ 3-115-24 ॥
english translation
अथॊवाच महातेजॊ भृगुः सत्यवतीं सनुषाम बराह्मणः कषत्रवृत्तिर वै तव पुत्रॊ भविष्यति ॥ ३-११५-२५ ॥
'Then, the greatly radiant Bhrigu spoke to Satyavati, his daughter-in-law: 'Your son will indeed adopt the duties of a Kshatriya, despite being born a Brahmana.'' ॥ 3-115-25 ॥
