[य] ऋश्य शृङ्गः कथं मृग्याम उत्पन्नः काश्यपात्म जः विरुद्धे यॊनिसंसर्गे कथं च तपसा युतः ॥ ३-११०-६ ॥
'Yudhishthira said, 'How was Rishyasringa, the son of Kashyapa, born of a deer? And how could he possess such holiness, given that he is the product of an unworthy union?'' ॥ 3-110-6 ॥
english translation
किमर्थं च भयाच छक्रस तस्य बालस्य धीमतः अनावृष्ट्यां परवृत्तायां ववर्ष बलवृत्र हा ॥ ३-११०-७ ॥
'And what reason did Indra, the slayer of the demons Vala and Vritra, have to fear that wise boy, causing him to pour down rain during the time of drought?' ॥ 3-110-7 ॥
english translation
कथंरूपा च शान्ताभूद राजपुत्री यतव्रता लॊभयाम आस या चेतॊ मृगभूतस्य तस्य वै ॥ ३-११०-८ ॥
'And how beautiful was the princess Shanta, pure in her conduct, who captivated the heart of him who had transformed into a stag?' ॥ 3-110-8 ॥
english translation
लॊम पादश च राजर्षिर यदाश्रूयत धार्मिकः कथं वै विषये तस्य नावर्षत पाकशासनः ॥ ३-११०-९ ॥
'And since King Lomapada is known to be a virtuous ruler, why did Indra, the chastiser of the demon Paka, withhold rain in his kingdom?' ॥ 3-110-9 ॥

एतन मे भगवन सर्वं विस्तरेण यथातथम वक्तुम अर्हसि शुश्रूषॊर ऋष्यशृङ्गस्य चेष्टितम ॥ ३-११०-१० ॥
'O holy sage! Please narrate all this to me in detail, just as it occurred, for I am eager to hear about the deeds of Rishyasringa's life.' ॥ 3-110-10 ॥
