पुरॊहितापचाराच च तस्य राज्ञॊ यदृच्छया न ववर्ष सहस्राक्षस ततॊ ऽपीड्यन्त वै परजाः ।। ३-११०-२१ ।।

sanskrit

'At that time, the ruler of the world was shunned by all members of the priestly class and was without a ministering priest to assist him in his religious rites. The god of a thousand eyes, Indra, suddenly withheld rain in his territory, causing his people to suffer.' ।। 3-110-21 ।।

english translation

puròhitApacArAca ca tasya rAjJò yadRcchayA na vavarSa sahasrAkSasa tatò 'pIDyanta vai parajAH || 3-110-21 ||

स बराह्मणान पर्यपृच्छत तपॊ युक्तान मनीषिणः परवर्षणे सुरेन्द्रस्य समर्थान पृथिवीपतिः ।। ३-११०-२२ ।।

sanskrit

'Therefore, O lord of the earth, he questioned several Brahmanas, devoted to penance, knowledgeable, and capable, about the matter of rain being granted by the lord of the gods.' ।। 3-110-22 ।।

english translation

sa barAhmaNAna paryapRcchata tapò yuktAna manISiNaH paravarSaNe surendrasya samarthAna pRthivIpatiH || 3-110-22 ||

कथं परवर्षेत पर्जन्य उपायः परिदृश्यताम तम ऊचुश चॊदितास तेन सवमतानि मनीषिणः ।। ३-११०-२३ ।।

sanskrit

'How can we beseech the heavens for rain? Consider a method for this purpose.' In response to his inquiry, those learned men shared their insights. Among them, one distinguished sage addressed the king.' ।। 3-110-23 ।।

kathaM paravarSeta parjanya upAyaH paridRzyatAma tama Ucuza còditAsa tena savamatAni manISiNaH || 3-110-23 ||

तत्र तव एकॊ मुनिवरस तं राजानम उवाच ह कुपितास तव राजेन्द्र बराह्मणा निस्कृतिं चर ।। ३-११०-२४ ।।

sanskrit

'O lord of kings! The Brahmanas are displeased with you. Therefore, perform some act to appease them, O ruler of the earth!' ।। 3-110-24 ।।

english translation

tatra tava ekò munivarasa taM rAjAnama uvAca ha kupitAsa tava rAjendra barAhmaNA niskRtiM cara || 3-110-24 ||

ऋश्य शृङ्गं मुनिसुतम आनयस्व च पार्थिव वानेयम अनभिज्ञं च नारीणाम आर्जवे रतम ।। ३-११०-२५ ।।

sanskrit

'O ruler of the earth! Summon Rishyasringa, the son of a sage, who resides in the forest, knows nothing of women, and delights in simplicity.' ।। 3-110-25 ।।

Rzya zRGgaM munisutama Anayasva ca pArthiva vAneyama anabhijJaM ca nArINAma Arjave ratama || 3-110-25 ||
