ततॊ देवाः सहिताः सर्व एव; सेन्द्राः समागम्य महाद्रिराजम निवारयाम आसुर उपायतस तं; न च सम तेषां वचनं चकार ॥ ३-१०२-६ ॥
'All the assembled gods approached Vindhya, the mighty king of mountains, and endeavored to dissuade him from his course. However, he paid no heed to their words.' ॥ 3-102-6 ॥
english translation
अथाभिजग्मुर मुनिम आश्रमस्थं; तपस्विनं धर्मभृतां वरिष्ठम अगस्त्यम अत्यद्भुतवीर्यदीप्तं; तं चार्थम ऊचुः सहिताः सुरास ते ॥ ३-१०२-७ ॥
who was endowed with extraordinary power.' ॥ 3-102-7 ॥
english translation
[देवा] सूर्या चन्द्रमसॊर मार्गं नक्षत्राणां गतिं तथा शैलराजॊ वृणॊत्य एष विन्ध्यः करॊधवशानुगः ॥ ३-१०२-८ ॥
'The gods said, "This king of mountains, Vindhya, succumbing to his wrath, is blocking the paths of the Sun and the Moon, as well as the courses of the stars."' ॥ 3-102-8 ॥
english translation
तं निवारयितुं शक्तॊ नान्यः कश चिद दविजॊत्तम ऋते तवां हि महाभाग तस्माद एनं निवारय ॥ ३-१०२-९ ॥
'O foremost of Brahmanas! O generous one! Except for you, there is no one who can stop him; therefore, you must compel him to desist.' ॥ 3-102-9 ॥

[लॊमष] तच छरुत्वा वचनं विप्रः सुराणां शैलम अभ्यगात सॊ ऽभिगम्याब्रवीद विन्ध्यं सदारः समुपस्थितः ॥ ३-१०२-१० ॥
'Hearing the words of the gods, the Brahmana went to the mountain. Accompanied by his wife, he approached Vindhya and spoke to him.' ॥ 3-102-10 ॥
