समेत्य समहेन्द्राश च भयान मन्त्रं परचक्रिरे नारायणं पुरस्कृत्य वैकुण्ठम अपराजितम ॥ ३-१००-१७ ॥
'Gathering together with Indra at their center, the gods began to confer with one another in fear. They then turned to the exalted and eternal Narayana, the invincible deity of Vaikuntha, seeking his protection.' ॥ 3-100-17 ॥
