This power of discipline restrains even those deemed ungovernable, among kings allied with rākṣasa-kind. This first-born Daṇḍa—the principle of punishment and governance—was created by Brahmā, the expounder of sacred knowledge.

english translation

This royal parasol of kings was described by the great Śakra (Indra). The sons of the Lord of Waters bear it, a token of lofty eminence.

english translation

This parasol of the Lord of Waters stands in the parasol-house. From every side it releases cool water, raining like a cloud.

english translation

The water that falls from this parasol—clear as Soma—becomes obscured by darkness, by which sight is not properly obtained.

english translation

Many wondrous forms are to be seen here, O Mātali; however, your duties would be delayed—therefore let us depart without long delay.
