Let not those ignorant of dharma—deluded and ill-disposed—speak of me thus: “Kṛṣṇa, though able, did not restrain the enraged Kurus and Pāṇḍavas.”
english translation
“I have come to secure the interests of both sides”—having said this, I would strive there and then depart without becoming a subject of reproach among people.
english translation
Having heard my statement—sound and aligned with dharma and practical interest—if the immature person does not accept it, he will come under the control of fate.
english translation
If I were to act without abandoning the Pāṇḍavas’ interest, while also duly securing peace for the Kurus, my conduct would be meritorious and of great purpose—and the Kurus would be released from the noose of death.
english translation
Even as I speak in refined words—delighting in dharma, rich in meaning, and non-injurious (ahiṃsā)—the Dhārtarāṣṭras would take heed of it; and the Kurus, seeing me competent and arrived, would honor me.
