चेकितानः सोमदत्तं द्वैरथे योद्धुमिच्छति । भोजं तु कृतवर्माणं युयुधानो युयुत्सति॥५-५६-२१॥
Cekitāna wishes to fight Somadatta in a chariot-duel. Yuyudhāna, for his part, seeks to engage the Bhoja Kṛtavarman.

सहदेवस्तु माद्रेयः शूरः संक्रन्दनो युधि । स्वमंशं कल्पयामास श्यालं ते सुबलात्मजम्॥५-५६-२२॥
Sahadeva, the son of Mādrī—valiant and formidable in battle—assigned as his own counterpart your brother-in-law, the son of Subala.

उलूकं चापि कैतव्यं ये च सारस्वता गणाः । नकुलः कल्पयामास भागं माद्रवतीसुतः॥५-५६-२३॥
Nakula, the son of Mādravatī, likewise assigned as his portion Ulūka of the Kaiteya line, and also those troops known as the Sārasvata groups.

ये चान्ये पार्थिवा राजन्प्रत्युद्यास्यन्ति संयुगे । समाह्वानेन तांश्चापि पाण्डुपुत्रा अकल्पयन्॥५-५६-२४॥
And the other kings, O King, who would come forward to oppose them in the engagement—those too the sons of Pāṇḍu assigned by formal challenge and summons.

एवमेषामनीकानि प्रविभक्तानि भागशः । यत्ते कार्यं सपुत्रस्य क्रियतां तदकालिकम्॥५-५६-२५॥
Thus their divisions were apportioned in shares. Whatever action is to be undertaken by you together with your sons—let that be done without delay.
