One should not speak while an action is yet to be done; one should reveal only what has already been accomplished. In matters of dharma, desire, and material interest, counsel is thus not compromised.

english translation

Having ascended a mountain ridge, or having gone in private to a palace, or to a secluded, uninhabited place in a forest—there counsel should be formulated.

english translation

A non-ally does not deserve to know the highest counsel, O Bhārata. Even a well-wisher, if unlearned, or learned yet lacking self-control, is unsuitable. In a minister, both desire for gain and the capacity to protect counsel must be assessed.

english translation

If a king’s attendants come to know only the completed actions, while his counsel remains concealed, then his success is assured.

english translation

Whoever, through delusion, undertakes actions that are not commendable—when those actions fail or collapse, he may fall even from life itself.
