For a king who practices dharma—conduct established from the beginning by the virtuous—the earth becomes rich in resources and grows, increasing prosperity.

english translation

But when he abandons dharma and practices adharma, the earth closes in upon him—like a hide shrinking when placed upon fire.

english translation

The very effort spent in subduing another kingdom should likewise be spent in safeguarding one’s own kingdom.

english translation

By dharma one should attain sovereignty, and by dharma one should govern it. Having gained prosperity rooted in dharma, it is neither forsaken nor does it wane.

english translation

Even from a delirious man speaking incoherently, and even from a crawling child, one should draw out the essence—like gold from stones.
