कच्चित्पुत्रा जीवपुत्राः सुसम्यग्वर्तन्ते वो वृत्तिमनृशंसरूपाम् । इति स्मोक्त्वा संजय ब्रूहि पश्चादजातशत्रुः कुशली सपुत्रः॥५-३०-३१॥
“Are the sons—dear as life itself—conducting themselves rightly, following a way of life marked by non-cruelty?” Having said this, Sañjaya, then report afterward that Ajātaśatru (Yudhiṣṭhira) is well, together with his sons.

या नो भार्याः संजय वेत्थ तत्र तासां सर्वासां कुशलं तात पृच्छेः । सुसंगुप्ताः सुरभयोऽनवद्याः कच्चिद्गृहानावसथाप्रमत्ताः॥५-३०-३२॥
Sañjaya, of our wives whom you know there, ask, dear one, after the welfare of them all. Are they well guarded, of good repute and blameless in conduct, and diligent in the care of their households and dwellings?

कच्चिद्वृत्तिं श्वशुरेषु भद्राः कल्याणीं वर्तध्वमनृशंसरूपाम् । यथा च वः स्युः पतयोऽनुकूलास्तथा वृत्तिमात्मनः स्थापयध्वम्॥५-३०-३३॥
Do you, noble ladies, uphold among your fathers-in-law a worthy conduct—benevolent and free from cruelty? And do you so establish your own comportment that your husbands may remain well disposed toward you?

या नः स्नुषाः संजय वेत्थ तत्र प्राप्ताः कुलेभ्यश्च गुणोपपन्नाः । प्रजावत्यो ब्रूहि समेत्य ताश्च युधिष्ठिरो वोऽभ्यवदत्प्रसन्नः॥५-३०-३४॥
Sañjaya, of our daughters-in-law whom you know there—come from good families and endowed with virtues—go to meet them and tell me whether they are blessed with children; and convey to them that Yudhiṣṭhira greeted them with goodwill.

कन्याः स्वजेथाः सदनेषु संजय अनामयं मद्वचनेन पृष्ट्वा । कल्याणा वः सन्तु पतयोऽनुकूला यूयं पतीनां भवतानुकूलाः॥५-३०-३५॥
Sañjaya, in their homes ask the young women, in my words, whether they are free from illness. May their husbands prosper and be well disposed toward them, and may they in turn be well disposed toward their husbands.
