अक्षौहिण्यो हि सप्तैव धर्मपुत्रस्य संगताः । युयुत्समानाः कुरुभिः प्रतीक्षन्तेऽस्य शासनम्॥५-२०-१६॥
For seven akṣauhiṇīs have assembled for Dharmaputra; prepared to engage the Kurus, they await his command.

अपरे पुरुषव्याघ्राः सहस्राक्षौहिणीसमाः । सात्यकिर्भीमसेनश्च यमौ च सुमहाबलौ॥५-२०-१७॥
Others too—tiger-like men—are each comparable to a thousand akṣauhiṇīs: Sātyaki, Bhīmasena, and the two twins of very great strength.

एकादशैताः पृतना एकतश्च समागताः । एकतश्च महाबाहुर्बहुरूपो धनंजयः॥५-२०-१८॥
These eleven forces have assembled on one side; and on that same side stands Dhanaṃjaya of mighty arms, manifold in his capacities.

यथा किरीटी सेनाभ्यः सर्वाभ्यो व्यतिरिच्यते । एवमेव महाबाहुर्वासुदेवो महाद्युतिः॥५-२०-१९॥
Just as Kirīṭin surpasses all armies, so too does Vāsudeva—mighty-armed and of great radiance—surpass them all.

बहुलत्वं च सेनानां विक्रमं च किरीटिनः । बुद्धिमत्तां च कृष्णस्य बुद्ध्वा युध्येत को नरः॥५-२०-२०॥
Knowing the vast numbers of the armies, the prowess of Kirīṭin, and the strategic intelligence of Kṛṣṇa, what person would choose to enter into war?
