भार्योवाच । यदि ते रोचते राजन्वक्ष्यामि शृणु मे वचः । श्रुत्वेदानीं प्रपद्येथाः स्वकार्यं पृषतात्मज॥५-१९०-६॥
The wife said: If it pleases you, O king, I will speak—listen to my words. Having heard, you should now undertake your own course of action, O son of Pṛṣata.

क्रियतामस्य नृपते विधिवद्दारसंग्रहः । सत्यं भवति तद्वाक्यमिति मे निश्चिता मतिः॥५-१९०-७॥
Arrange for him, O king, a marriage alliance in accordance with dharma and in due rite; in my settled judgment, that utterance will thereby be proven true.

भीष्म उवाच । ततस्तौ निश्चयं कृत्वा तस्मिन्कार्येऽथ दम्पती । वरयां चक्रतुः कन्यां दशार्णाधिपतेः सुताम्॥५-१९०-८॥
Bhīṣma said: Then, having reached a decision in that matter, the royal couple proceeded to seek as bride the daughter of the lord of Daśārṇa

ततो राजा द्रुपदो राजसिंहः सर्वान्राज्ञः कुलतः संनिशाम्य । दाशार्णकस्य नृपतेस्तनूजां शिखण्डिने वरयामास दारान्॥५-१९०-९॥
Thereafter King Drupada, a lion among kings, having considered the royal lineages, sought for Śikhaṇḍin a marriage alliance with the daughter of the Daśārṇa ruler.

हिरण्यवर्मेति नृपो योऽसौ दाशार्णकः स्मृतः । स च प्रादान्महीपालः कन्यां तस्मै शिखण्डिने॥५-१९०-१०॥
That Daśārṇa king, remembered as Hiraṇyavarman, the protector of the land, gave his daughter to Śikhaṇḍin.
