Bhīṣma said: When the night had passed, O Bhārata, I awoke; and reflecting upon that dream, I attained profound satisfaction.

english translation

Then, O Bhārata, a strategic engagement arose between him and me—tumultuous, wondrous, and stirring intense awe in all beings.

english translation

Then the Bhārgava poured a dense “rain” of arrows upon me; and I checked it, O Bhārata, with a net-like counter-volley of shafts.

english translation

Then, becoming intensely angered once again, that great ascetic—still bearing the previous day’s resentment—launched a spear at me.

english translation

Its impact was like Indra’s thunderbolt, and its radiance like Yama’s staff; blazing like fire amid the clash, it seemed to flicker and flare on every side.
