The sun did not shine, veiled by a net of arrows; and within that interval the wind roared, as though checked by clouds.
english translation
Then, from the turbulence of the wind and the sun’s rays—through fierce heating and by its own nature—fire arose.
english translation
Those arrows, kindled by the self-arisen fire with its variegated blaze, all fell then to the earth, O king, reduced to ash.
english translation
Then—by the hundreds of thousands, by tens of thousands, by arbuda and beyond, by ayuta, kharva, and nikharva—Rāma, inflamed with wrath, swiftly rained volleys of arrows upon me, O Kaurava.
english translation
Then I too, in the fray, cut those down with arrows like venomous serpents, and made them fall upon the earth, O king, like snakes.
