Then all my well-honed arrows were blunted and split in two by Rāma’s shafts—by the hundreds—in that great engagement.

english translation

Then again I discharged a blazing, brilliantly radiant arrow—its force as though measured by Time itself—toward Rāma Jāmadagnya, intent on subduing him.

english translation

Struck firmly by it and brought under the arrow’s crushing impact, Rāma suddenly grew disoriented and fell to the ground.

english translation

Then an outcry rose everywhere when Rāma lay upon the earth; the whole world, O Bhārata, was shaken with alarm, as though the sun had fallen.

english translation

Then all of them, deeply alarmed, rushed toward him at once—those ascetics rich in austerity, and the Kāśyas as well—toward the Bhṛgu-descendant.
