Rāma then appeared, O king, like an aśoka tree at winter’s end adorned with red clusters—here and there resembling the kiṃśuka in bloom.

Rāma then appeared, O king, like an aśoka tree at winter’s end adorned with red clusters—here and there resembling the kiṃśuka in bloom-॥

Then Rāma, seized by wrath, took up another bow and showered keenly honed arrows with golden fletching.

english translation

Reaching me, those fierce arrows—of tremendous speed, piercing vital points in many ways—shook me, their effect like serpents, fire, and poison.

english translation

Then, steadying myself again in the fray, I—angered—covered Rāma with arrows numbering in the hundreds.

english translation

Hard-pressed by those sharp arrows—brilliant like fire and the sun, and like venomous serpents—Rāma seemed as though his awareness had grown dull.
