मद्रराजो महेष्वासः शल्यो मेऽतिरथो मतः । स्पर्धते वासुदेवेन यो वै नित्यं रणे रणे॥५-१६२-२६॥
Śalya, king of Madra, a great archer, is in my judgment an atiratha; in battle after battle he continually rivals Vāsudeva.
english translation
भागिनेयान्निजांस्त्यक्त्वा शल्यस्ते रथसत्तमः । एष योत्स्यति संग्रामे कृष्णं चक्रगदाधरम्॥५-१६२-२७॥
Forsaking his own kin—his sister’s sons—Śalya, your foremost chariot-warrior, will fight in the campaign even against Kṛṣṇa, bearer of discus and mace.

सागरोर्मिसमैर्वेगैः प्लावयन्निव शात्रवान् । भूरिश्रवाः कृतास्त्रश्च तव चापि हितः सुहृत्॥५-१६२-२८॥
With surges like the ocean’s waves, as though flooding the hostile ranks, Bhūriśravā, trained in weapons, is also your well-wisher and friend.

सौमदत्तिर्महेष्वासो रथयूथपयूथपः । बलक्षयममित्राणां सुमहान्तं करिष्यति॥५-१६२-२९॥
Saumadatti, a great archer and commander of chariot-formations, will bring about a very great depletion of the enemies’ strength.

सिन्धुराजो महाराज मतो मे द्विगुणो रथः । योत्स्यते समरे राजन्विक्रान्तो रथसत्तमः॥५-१६२-३०॥
O great king, in my judgment the ruler of Sindhu is a chariot-warrior of double measure; that foremost of chariot-fighters, steadfast in resolve, will enter the battle, O king.
