समेतं पार्थिवं क्षत्रं कालपक्वमसंशयम् । विमर्दः सुमहान्भावी मांसशोणितकर्दमः॥५-१५४-२६॥
The assembled royal warrior class is, beyond doubt, ripe for destruction by Time. A very great clash is imminent, one that will become a mire of flesh and blood.
english translation
उक्तो मया वासुदेवः पुनः पुनरुपह्वरे । संबन्धिषु समां वृत्तिं वर्तस्व मधुसूदन॥५-१५४-२७॥
Vāsudeva, I have told you again and again in private: among kinsmen, conduct yourself with an even-handed mind, O Madhusūdana.
english translation
पाण्डवा हि यथास्माकं तथा दुर्योधनो नृपः । तस्यापि क्रियतां युक्त्या सपर्येति पुनः पुनः॥५-१५४-२८॥
For the Pāṇḍavas are ours, and likewise King Duryodhana is ours. Therefore let due honor be shown to him as well, in a fitting manner, again and again.
english translation
तच्च मे नाकरोद्वाक्यं त्वदर्थे मधुसूदनः । निविष्टः सर्वभावेन धनंजयमवेक्ष्य च॥५-१५४-२९॥
Yet Madhusūdana did not act upon my words, for your sake—wholly committed, with his gaze fixed upon Dhanañjaya (Arjuna).
english translation
ध्रुवो जयः पाण्डवानामिति मे निश्चिता मतिः । तथा ह्यभिनिवेशोऽयं वासुदेवस्य भारत॥५-१५४-३०॥
My settled judgment is that victory is certain for the Pāṇḍavas; for such indeed is the firm resolve of Vāsudeva, O Bhārata.
