O Mādhava, speak thus to Kṛṣṇā—auspicious and renowned—the daughter-in-law of great-souled Pāṇḍu, who discerns the distinctions of dharma.

english translation

This is fitting, O fortunate and illustrious one, born into a noble lineage: that you have conducted yourself rightly toward all my sons.

english translation

Address Mādrī’s two sons as well, both steadfast in kṣatriya-dharma: “Choose the enjoyments and honors won by valor, even above mere survival.”

english translation

O Puruṣottama, resources gained through valor by one who lives in kṣatriya-dharma continually gladden a person’s mind.

english translation

And while you looked on, Pāñcālī—she who fosters the fullness of all dharmas—was assailed with harsh words; who could rightly be expected to endure that?
