Vaiśaṃpāyana said: Then Bhīṣma, son of Śāṃtanu, having heard Keśava’s words, addressed Duryodhana—who was intolerant of restraint—O bull among the Bharatas.

english translation

You have been addressed by Kṛṣṇa, who seeks reconciliation for the well-wishers. Reflect upon that, dear one; do not proceed under the control of anger.

english translation

If you do not act upon the words of the great-souled Keśava, dear one, you will never attain what is beneficial, nor happiness, nor well-being.

english translation

Keśava, the mighty-armed, has counseled you, dear prince, toward an aim both righteous and beneficial. Embrace that course, O king; do not bring your subjects to ruin.

english translation

This Bharata prosperity—now radiant among all kings—you will cause to collapse through your own moral distortion, even while Dhṛtarāṣṭra yet lives.
