Ṛcīka, having said “So be it,” went to Varuṇa’s abode; obtaining horses at Aśvatīrtha, he indeed gave them to the king.

english translation

After performing a sacrifice by the Puṇḍarīka rite, the king bestowed those horses upon the twice-born; then, buying them back from the recipients at two hundred each, the kings obtained them at that time.

english translation

Moreover, O best of Brahmins, four additional hundreds of horses were taken from her while they were being conveyed at the crossing. Thus, O Gālava, what has not been obtained can never be secured at any time by such means.

english translation

Present this maiden to him together with two hundreds of horses—present her to Viśvāmitra, O righteous one, along with six hundreds of horses. Then your confusion will be dispelled, O bull among Brahmins, and you will have fulfilled your obligation.

english translation

Gālava, having replied, “So be it,” then—accompanied by Suparṇa—took the horses and the maiden and approached Viśvāmitra.
