Here, before the great-souled brahmin-seer Jīmūta, there appeared Kamalākara—pure and stainless—as though he had come directly from Himavat, the Himalayan realm.

english translation

Having bestowed all his considerable wealth upon the brahmins as his final disposition, that great seer chose the forest; thereafter that forest became associated with the name of Jaimūta (Jīmūta).

english translation

Here, the guardians of the directions regularly cry out, at evening and at morning: “Whose task is it, and what is to be done?” O Gālava, bull among brahmins.

english translation

Thus, O best of brahmins, this direction is “northern” by its other qualities; it is known as Uttarā and is also “superior” in all undertakings.

english translation

These four directions have been described to you in detail, dear one. Proceeding in proper sequence, you wish to go toward the quarter of your desire.
