असंशयं परजा हेतॊर भार्यां पतिर अविन्दत या तु तवयि मम परीतिस ताम ऋषे कर्तुम अर्हसि ॥ ३-९५-१६ ॥

'The girl, joining her hands in bashful reverence, lovingly addressed the sage, saying, "Without a doubt, a husband marries a wife for the sake of children. Yet, O Rishi, it is fitting for you to reciprocate the love that I hold for you."' ॥ 3-95-16 ॥

english translation

asaMzayaM parajA hetòra bhAryAM patira avindata yA tu tavayi mama parItisa tAma RSe kartuma arhasi ॥ 3-95-16 ॥

यथा पितुर गृहे विप्र परासादे शयनं मम तथाविधे तवं शयने माम उपेतुम इहार्हसि ॥ ३-९५-१७ ॥

'And it is fitting for you, O revered sage, to join me on a bed similar to the one I had in my father's palace.' ॥ 3-95-17 ॥

english translation

yathA pitura gRhe vipra parAsAde zayanaM mama tathAvidhe tavaM zayane mAma upetuma ihArhasi ॥ 3-95-17 ॥

इच्छामि तवां सरग्विणं च भूषणैश च विभूषितम उपसर्तुं यथाकामं दिव्याभरणभूषिता ॥ ३-९५-१८ ॥

'I also wish for you to be adorned with garlands of flowers and other ornaments, while I approach you wearing the celestial decorations that please me. Otherwise, I cannot approach you dressed in these tattered, red-dyed rags. Nor is it appropriate, O revered sage, to wear ornaments on such an occasion.' ॥ 3-95-18 ॥

icchAmi tavAM saragviNaM ca bhUSaNaiza ca vibhUSitama upasartuM yathAkAmaM divyAbharaNabhUSitA ॥ 3-95-18 ॥

[अ] न वै धनानि विद्यन्ते लॊपामुद्रे तथा मम यथाविधानि कल्याणि पितुर तव सुमध्यमे ॥ ३-९५-१९ ॥

'Upon hearing his wife's words, Agastya replied, "O blessed one with the slender waist, I do not possess wealth comparable to that of your father, O Lopamudra!"' ॥ 3-95-19 ॥

[a] na vai dhanAni vidyante lòpAmudre tathA mama yathAvidhAni kalyANi pitura tava sumadhyame ॥ 3-95-19 ॥

[लॊप] ईशॊ ऽसि तपसा सर्वं समाहर्तुम इहेश्वर कषणेन जीवलॊके यद वसु किं चन विद्यते ॥ ३-९५-२० ॥

'She replied, "You, endowed with the wealth of asceticism, can undoubtedly summon anything that exists in the world of men here in an instant, through your ascetic power."' ॥ 3-95-20 ॥

[lòpa] Izò 'si tapasA sarvaM samAhartuma ihezvara kaSaNena jIvalòke yada vasu kiM cana vidyate ॥ 3-95-20 ॥
