तत्र विद्याव्रतस्नातः कौमारं वरतम आस्थितः शमठॊ ऽकथयद राजन्न अमूर्त रयसं गयम ।। ३-९३-१६ ।।

sanskrit

'While they discussed various subjects of sacred significance, it was there that the learned and vow-observing ascetic, Shamatha, who led a life of celibacy, addressed them, O king, speaking of Gaya, the son of Amurttaraya.' ।। 3-93-16 ।।

tatra vidyAvratasnAtaH kaumAraM varatama AsthitaH zamaThò 'kathayada rAjanna amUrta rayasaM gayama || 3-93-16 ||

'Listen closely, O Bharata, as I recount his virtuous deeds. Here, O king, Gaya performed numerous sacrifices, notable for their vast offerings of food and the abundant gifts bestowed upon the Brahmanas.' ।। 3-93-18 ।।

'Thousands of streams of richly prepared curries also adorned the grand offerings. Day after day, these offerings were prepared and distributed to all who came, while in addition, the Brahmanas partook of the well-prepared meals.' ।। 3-93-20 ।।

ahanya ahani cApya etada yAcatAM saMpradIyate anyata tu barAhmaNA rAjana bhuJjate 'nanaM susaMskRtama || 3-93-20 ||
