[व] भरातॄणां मतम आज्ञाय नारदस्य च धीमतः पिता मह समं धौम्यं पराह राजा युधिष्ठिरः ॥ ३-८४-१ ॥
'Vaisampayana continued: 'After consulting his brothers and the wise Narada, King Yudhishthira turned to Dhaumya, who was revered like the Grandsire himself, and said:'' ॥ 3-84-1 ॥
english translation
[va] bharAtRRNAM matama AjJAya nAradasya ca dhImataH pitA maha samaM dhaumyaM parAha rAjA yudhiSThiraH ॥ 3-84-1 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमया स पुरुषव्याघ्रॊ जिष्णुः सत्यपराक्रमः अस्त्रहेतॊर महाबाहुर अमितात्मा विवासितः ॥ ३-८४-२ ॥
'I sent away Jishnu, that tiger among men, for the acquisition of arms—he whose unfailing prowess, mighty arms, and boundless intellect are unmatched.' ॥ 3-84-2 ॥
english translation
mayA sa puruSavyAghrò jiSNuH satyaparAkramaH astrahetòra mahAbAhura amitAtmA vivAsitaH ॥ 3-84-2 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस हि वीरॊ ऽनुरक्तश च समर्थश च तपॊधन कृती च भृशम अप्य अस्त्रे वासुदेव इव परभुः ॥ ३-८४-३ ॥
'O sage, that hero is deeply devoted to me, endowed with great ability, and highly skilled in weaponry, resembling the exalted Vasudeva himself.' ॥ 3-84-3 ॥

sa hi vIrò 'nuraktaza ca samarthaza ca tapòdhana kRtI ca bhRzama apya astre vAsudeva iva parabhuH ॥ 3-84-3 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअहं हय एताव उभौ बरह्मन कृष्णाव अरिनिघातिनौ अभिजानामि विक्रान्तौ तथा वयासः परतापवान तरियुगौ पुण्डरीकाक्षौ वासुदेवधनंजयौ ॥ ३-८४-४ ॥
'I know both Krishna and Arjuna, those mighty destroyers of enemies, O Brahmana, just as the powerful Vyasa knows them. I recognize Vasudeva and Dhananjaya to be none other than Vishnu himself, endowed with the six divine attributes.' ॥ 3-84-4 ॥
english translation
ahaM haya etAva ubhau barahmana kRSNAva arinighAtinau abhijAnAmi vikrAntau tathA vayAsaH paratApavAna tariyugau puNDarIkAkSau vAsudevadhanaMjayau ॥ 3-84-4 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनारदॊ ऽपि तथा वेद सॊ ऽपय अशंसत सदा मम तथाहम अपि जानामि नरनारायणाव ऋषी ॥ ३-८४-५ ॥
'This, too, is confirmed by Narada, who has always spoken to me in this manner. In the same way, I too know them as the two sages, Nara and Narayana.' ॥ 3-84-5 ॥

nAradò 'pi tathA veda sò 'paya azaMsata sadA mama tathAhama api jAnAmi naranArAyaNAva RSI ॥ 3-84-5 ॥
