गङ्गायमुनयॊर मद्यं पृथिव्या जघनं समृतम परयागं जघनस्यान्तम उपस्थम ऋषयॊ विदुः ॥ ३-८३-७१ ॥

'The land between the Ganga and Yamuna is considered the mons veneris of the world, with Prayag as its most prominent point.' ॥ 3-83-71 ॥

gaGgAyamunayòra madyaM pRthivyA jaghanaM samRtama parayAgaM jaghanasyAntama upasthama RSayò viduH ॥ 3-83-71 ॥

परयागं स परतिष्ठानं कम्बलाश्वतरौ तथा तीर्थं भॊगवती चैव वेदी परॊक्ता परजापतेः ॥ ३-८३-७२ ॥

'The tirthas of Prayag, Pratisthana, Kamvala, Aswatara, and Bhogavati serve as the sacred platforms for the Creator.' ॥ 3-83-72 ॥

parayAgaM sa paratiSThAnaM kambalAzvatarau tathA tIrthaM bhògavatI caiva vedI paròktA parajApateH ॥ 3-83-72 ॥

तत्र वेदाश च यज्ञाश च मूर्तिमन्तॊ युधिष्ठिर परजापतिम उपासन्ते ऋषयश च महाव्रताः यजन्ते करतुभिर देवास तथा चक्रचरा नृप ॥ ३-८३-७३ ॥

'In those sacred places, O foremost of warriors, the Vedas and Sacrifices take on embodied forms, and the Rishis, rich in asceticism, revere Brahma. There, the gods and rulers of realms also perform their sacrifices.' ॥ 3-83-73 ॥

tatra vedAza ca yajJAza ca mUrtimantò yudhiSThira parajApatima upAsante RSayaza ca mahAvratAH yajante karatubhira devAsa tathA cakracarA nRpa ॥ 3-83-73 ॥

ततः पुण्यतमं नास्ति तरिषु लॊकेषु भारत परयागः सर्वतीर्थेभ्यः परभवत्य अधिकं विभॊ ॥ ३-८३-७४ ॥

'The learned declare, O exalted one, that among all these tirthas, Prayag is the most sacred, indeed the foremost of all tirthas in the three worlds.' ॥ 3-83-74 ॥

tataH puNyatamaM nAsti tariSu lòkeSu bhArata parayAgaH sarvatIrthebhyaH parabhavatya adhikaM vibhò ॥ 3-83-74 ॥

शरवणात तस्य तीर्थस्य नाम संकीर्तनाद अपि मृत्तिका लम्भनाद वापि नरः पापात परमुच्यते ॥ ३-८३-७५ ॥

'By visiting this tirtha, singing its praises, or taking a bit of its earth, one is cleansed of all sins.' ॥ 3-83-75 ॥

zaravaNAta tasya tIrthasya nAma saMkIrtanAda api mRttikA lambhanAda vApi naraH pApAta paramucyate ॥ 3-83-75 ॥
