ततॊ गयां समासाद्य बरह्म चारी जितेन्द्रियः अश्वमेधम अवाप्नॊति गमनाद एव भारत ॥ ३-८२-७१ ॥

'By journeying next to Gayā, while observing the Brahmacharya vow and maintaining subdued senses, one attains the merit of the horse sacrifice and also rescues one’s lineage.' ॥ 3-82-71 ॥

english translation

tatò gayAM samAsAdya barahma cArI jitendriyaH azvamedhama avApnòti gamanAda eva bhArata ॥ 3-82-71 ॥

तत्राक्षयवतॊ नाम तरिषु लॊकेषु विश्रुतः पितॄणां तत्र वै दत्तम अक्षयं भवति परभॊ ॥ ३-८२-७२ ॥

'There in that tirtha lies the Akshayavata, renowned across the three worlds. Whatever is offered to the Pitris there is said to become inexhaustible.' ॥ 3-82-72 ॥

tatrAkSayavatò nAma tariSu lòkeSu vizrutaH pitRRNAM tatra vai dattama akSayaM bhavati parabhò ॥ 3-82-72 ॥

महानद्याम उपस्पृश्य तर्पयेत पितृदेवताः अक्षयान पराप्नुयाल लॊकान कुलं चैव समुद्धरेत ॥ ३-८२-७३ ॥

'By bathing in the Mahanadi and making offerings to the gods and the Pitris, one attains eternal realms and also uplifts one’s lineage.' ॥ 3-82-73 ॥

mahAnadyAma upaspRzya tarpayeta pitRdevatAH akSayAna parApnuyAla lòkAna kulaM caiva samuddhareta ॥ 3-82-73 ॥

ततॊ बरह्मसरॊ गच्छेद धर्मारण्यॊपशॊभितम पौण्डरीकम अवाप्नॊति परभाताम एव शर्वरीम ॥ ३-८२-७४ ॥

'Then, by proceeding to Brahma-sara, adorned by the woods of Dharma, and spending one night there, a person attains the realm of Brahma.' ॥ 3-82-74 ॥

tatò barahmasarò gaccheda dharmAraNyòpazòbhitama pauNDarIkama avApnòti parabhAtAma eva zarvarIma ॥ 3-82-74 ॥

तस्मिन सरसि राजेन्द्र बरह्मणॊ यूप उच्छ्रितः यूपं परदक्षिणं कृत्वा वाजपेयफलं लभेत ॥ ३-८२-७५ ॥

'In that lake, Brahma raised a sacrificial pillar, and by circumambulating this pillar, one gains the merit of the Vājapeya sacrifice.' ॥ 3-82-75 ॥

tasmina sarasi rAjendra barahmaNò yUpa ucchritaH yUpaM paradakSiNaM kRtvA vAjapeyaphalaM labheta ॥ 3-82-75 ॥
