पराप्यन्ते पार्थिवैर एते समृद्धैर वा नरैः कव चित नार्थान्य ऊनॊपकरणैर एकात्मभिर असंहतैः ।। ३-८०-३६ ।।

sanskrit

'These sacrifices can be attained only by prosperous kings or wealthy men. They cannot be achieved by those with insufficient means, who are solitary and disunited.' ।। 3-80-36 ।।

english translation

parApyante pArthivaira ete samRddhaira vA naraiH kava cita nArthAnya UnòpakaraNaira ekAtmabhira asaMhataiH || 3-80-36 ||

यॊ दरिद्रैर अपि विधिः शक्यः पराप्तुं नरेश्वर तुल्यॊ यज्ञफलैः पुण्यैस तं निबॊध युधां वर ।। ३-८०-३७ ।।

sanskrit

'O King of kings, O best among warriors, Listen to (or understand) the method which can be attained even by the poor, And which is equal in merit to the sacred fruits of sacrifices.' ।। 3-80-37 ।।

yò daridraira api vidhiH zakyaH parAptuM narezvara tulyò yajJaphalaiH puNyaisa taM nibòdha yudhAM vara || 3-80-37 ||

ऋषीणां परमं गुह्यम इदं भरतसत्तम तीर्थाभिगमनं पुण्यं यज्ञैर अपि विशिष्यते ।। ३-८०-३८ ।।

'O you who are the best of the Bharata race, pilgrimages to the meritorious tirthas, which represent one of the profound mysteries of the Rishis, are indeed superior to sacrifices.' ।। 3-80-38 ।।

english translation

RSINAM paramaM guhyama idaM bharatasattama tIrthAbhigamanaM puNyaM yajJaira api viziSyate || 3-80-38 ||

अनुपॊष्य तरिरात्राणि तीर्थान्य अनभिगम्य च अदत्त्वा काञ्चनं गाश च दरिद्रॊ नाम जायते ।। ३-८०-३९ ।।

sanskrit

'He is considered a poor man who, after visiting a tirtha, has not fasted for three nights, has not given away gold, and has not distributed cattle.' ।। 3-80-39 ।।

anupòSya tarirAtrANi tIrthAnya anabhigamya ca adattvA kAJcanaM gAza ca daridrò nAma jAyate || 3-80-39 ||

अग्निष्टॊमादिभिर यज्ञैर इष्ट्वा विपुलदक्षिणैः न तत फलम अवाप्नॊति तीर्थाभिगमनेन यत ।। ३-८०-४० ।।

'Indeed, one does not attain the merit gained from a pilgrimage to a tirtha through the performance of the Agnishtoma and other sacrifices, even when accompanied by generous offerings.' ।। 3-80-40 ।।

agniSTòmAdibhira yajJaira iSTvA vipuladakSiNaiH na tata phalama avApnòti tIrthAbhigamanena yata || 3-80-40 ||
