[न] शृणु राजन्न अवहितॊ यथा भीष्मेण भारत पुलस्त्यस्य सकाशाद वै सर्वम एतद उपश्रुतम ॥ ३-८०-११ ॥
'Narada said, "Pay heed, O king, to what the wise Bhishma once learned from Pulastya, and listen attentively!"' ॥ 3-80-11 ॥
english translation
पुरा भागीरथी तीरे भीष्मॊ धर्मभृतां वरः पित्र्यं वरतं समास्थाय नयवसन मुनिवत तदा ॥ ३-८०-१२ ॥
'Once, O blessed one, that foremost of virtuous men, Bhishma, while observing the Pitrya vow, resided, O king, in a delightful and sacred region near the source of the Ganga.' ॥ 3-80-12 ॥
english translation
शुभे देशे महाराज पुण्ये देवर्षिसेविते गङ्गा दवारे महातेजॊ देवगन्धर्वसेविते ॥ ३-८०-१३ ॥
'There, he dwelled in the company of Munis, a place frequented by celestial Rishis, Gandharvas, and the gods themselves.' ॥ 3-80-13 ॥
english translation
स पितॄंस तर्पयाम आस देवांश च परमद्युतिः ऋषींश च तॊषयाम आस विधिदृष्टेन कर्मणा ॥ ३-८०-१४ ॥
'While residing there, the radiant Bhishma offered his oblations to the Pitris, the gods, and the Rishis, adhering to the rites prescribed in the scriptures.' ॥ 3-80-14 ॥

कस्य चित तव अथ कालस्य जपन्न एव महातपाः ददर्शाद्भुतसंकाशं पुलस्त्यम ऋषिसत्तमम ॥ ३-८०-१५ ॥
'One day, as he was immersed in his silent recitations, he beheld Pulastya, the illustrious Rishi of remarkable presence.' ॥ 3-80-15 ॥
