सा तु तं पुरुषं नारी कृच्छ्रे ऽपय अनुगता वने तयक्ता तेनाल्पपुण्येन दुष्करं यदि जीवति ॥ ३-६४-१६ ॥
'When misfortune struck him, his wife ventured into the forest alongside him. Now abandoned by that man of little virtue, her very life hangs in the balance.' ॥ 3-64-16 ॥

एका बालानभिज्ञा च मार्गाणाम अतथॊचिता कषुत्पिपासापरीता च दुष्करं यदि जीवति ॥ ३-६४-१७ ॥
'Alone and ignorant of the paths, she struggles to withstand her suffering, fainting from hunger and thirst.' ॥ 3-64-17 ॥

शवापदाचरिते नित्यं वने महति दारुणे तयक्ता तेनाल्पपुण्येन मन्दप्रज्ञेन मारिष ॥ ३-६४-१८ ॥
'In a vast and terrible forest, always frequented by wild beasts, Abandoned by that man of little merit and poor wisdom, O respected one.' ॥ 3-64-18 ॥

इत्य एवं नैषधॊ राजा दमयन्तीम अनुस्मरन अज्ञातवासम अवसद राज्ञस तस्य निवेशने ॥ ३-६४-१९ ॥
'Thus, reflecting on Damayanti, the king of the Nishadhas resided in the palace of that monarch, remaining unknown.' ॥ 3-64-19 ॥
