बृहदश्व उवाच तस्मिन्न अन्तर्हिते नागे परययौ नैषधॊ नलः ऋतुपर्णस्य नगरं पराविशद दशमे ऽहनि ॥ ३-६४-१ ॥
'Vrihadaswa said, "After the snake had vanished, Nala, the ruler of the Nishadhas, set out and entered the city of Rituparna on the tenth day."' ॥ 3-64-1 ॥
english translation
स राजानम उपातिष्ठद बाहुकॊ ऽहम इति बरुवन अश्वानां वाहने युक्तः पृथिव्यां नास्ति मत्समः ॥ ३-६४-२ ॥
'And he approached the king, saying, 'I am Vahuka. There is no one in this world who can match my skill in handling steeds.'' ॥ 3-64-2 ॥
english translation
अर्थकृच्छ्रेषु चैवाहं परष्टव्यॊ नैपुणेषु च अन्नसंस्कारम अपि च जानाम्य अन्यैर विशेषतः ॥ ३-६४-३ ॥
'My counsel should also be sought in times of difficulty and in all matters requiring skill. I excel beyond others in the art of cooking.' ॥ 3-64-3 ॥
english translation
यानि शिल्पाणि लॊके ऽसमिन यच चाप्य अन्यत सुदुष्करम सर्वं यतिष्ये तत कर्तुम ऋतुपर्ण भरस्व माम ॥ ३-६४-४ ॥
'In all the arts that exist in this world, as well as in every difficult task, I will strive to achieve success. Therefore, O Rituparna, support me.' ॥ 3-64-4 ॥

वस बाहुक भद्रं ते सर्वम एतत करिष्यसि शीघ्रयाने सदा बुद्धिर धीयते मे विशेषतः ॥ ३-६४-५ ॥
'And Rituparna replied, "O Vahuka, remain with me! May good fortune be yours. I have always desired to be driven swiftly. "' ॥ 3-64-5 ॥
