इति सा तं गिरिश्रेष्ठम उक्त्वा पार्थिवनन्दिनी दमयन्ती ततॊ भूयॊ जगाम दिशम उत्तराम ॥ ३-६१-५६ ॥
'After addressing the foremost of mountains in this manner, Damayanti proceeded towards the north.' ॥ 3-61-56 ॥

सा गत्वा तरीन अहॊरात्रान ददर्श परमाङ्गना तापसारण्यम अतुलं दिव्यकाननदर्शनम ॥ ३-६१-५७ ॥
'After journeying for three days and nights, that virtuous woman arrived at a remarkable grove of ascetics, its beauty resembling that of a celestial garden.' ॥ 3-61-57 ॥

वसिष्ठभृग्वत्रिसमैस तापसैर उपशॊभितम नियतैः संयताहारैर दमशौचसमन्वितैः ॥ ३-६१-५८ ॥
'And she beheld a delightful hermitage, graced by ascetics such as Vasishtha, Bhrigu, and Atri—renowned for their self-discipline and austere diets.' ॥ 3-61-58 ॥

अब्भक्षैर वायुभक्षैश च पत्राहारैस तथैव च जितेन्द्रियैर महाभागैः सवर्गमार्गदिदृक्षुभिः ॥ ३-६१-५९ ॥
'With diets of fallen leaves, with air as their sustenance, and living on the bare minimum, these exalted beings, their senses conquered, sought the path to heaven.' ॥ 3-61-59 ॥

वल्कलाजिनसंवीतैर मुनिभिः संयतेन्द्रियैः तापसाध्युषितं रम्यं ददर्शाश्रममण्डलम ॥ ३-६१-६० ॥
'With passions restrained, they were profoundly blessed, striving for the celestial realm, clad in tree bark and deer skins, their senses subdued, surrounded by a circle of hermits.' ॥ 3-61-60 ॥
