ततॊ यात्वा विदुरः काननं तच; छीघ्रैर अश्वैर वाहिना सयन्दनेन ददर्शासीनं धर्मराजं विविक्ते; सार्धं दरौपद्या भरातृभिर बराह्मणैश च ॥ ३-६-६ ॥

'Upon arriving at the flourishing forest, he saw Yudhishthira, the just, sitting with Draupadi in a secluded spot, surrounded by his brothers and the Brahmanas.' ॥ 3-6-6 ॥

english translation

tatò yAtvA viduraH kAnanaM taca; chIghraira azvaira vAhinA sayandanena dadarzAsInaM dharmarAjaM vivikte; sArdhaM daraupadyA bharAtRbhira barAhmaNaiza ca ॥ 3-6-6 ॥

ततॊ ऽपश्यद विदुरं तूर्णम आराद; अभ्यायान्तं सत्यसंधः स राजा अथाब्रवीद भरातरं भीमसेनं; किं नु कषत्ता वक्ष्यति नः समेत्य ॥ ३-६-७ ॥

'Upon arriving at the flourishing forest, he saw Yudhishthira, the just, sitting with Draupadi in a secluded spot, surrounded by his brothers and the Brahmanas. As Vidura approached from a distance, the virtuous king addressed his brother, Bhimasena, saying:"What message does Kshatta bring to us?"' ॥ 3-6-7 ॥

tatò 'pazyada viduraM tUrNama ArAda; abhyAyAntaM satyasaMdhaH sa rAjA athAbravIda bharAtaraM bhImasenaM; kiM nu kaSattA vakSyati naH sametya ॥ 3-6-7 ॥

कच चिन नायं वचनात सौबलस्य; समाह्वाता देवनायॊपयाति कच चित कषुद्रः शकुनिर नायुधानि; जेष्यत्य अस्मान्पुनर एवाक्षवत्याम ॥ ३-६-८ ॥

'Has he come, sent by Shakuni, to invite us once more to a game of dice? Does the deceitful Shakuni intend to win our weapons again through deceit?' ॥ 3-6-8 ॥

kaca cina nAyaM vacanAta saubalasya; samAhvAtA devanAyòpayAti kaca cita kaSudraH zakunira nAyudhAni; jeSyatya asmAnpunara evAkSavatyAma ॥ 3-6-8 ॥

समाहूतः केन चिद आद्रवेति; नाहं शक्तॊ भीमसेनापयातुम गाण्डीवे वा संशयिते कथं चिद; राज्यप्राप्तिः संशयिता भवेन नः ॥ ३-६-९ ॥

'O Bhimasena, if anyone challenges me, I am unable to remain calm. And if the possession of our Gandiva is in question, will not our entire kingdom also be in jeopardy?' ॥ 3-6-9 ॥

samAhUtaH kena cida Adraveti; nAhaM zaktò bhImasenApayAtuma gANDIve vA saMzayite kathaM cida; rAjyaprAptiH saMzayitA bhavena naH ॥ 3-6-9 ॥

तत उत्थाय विदुरं पाण्डवेयाः; परत्यगृह्णन नृपते सर्व एव तैः सत्कृतः स च तान आजमीढॊ; यथॊचितं पाण्डुपुत्रान समेयात ॥ ३-६-१० ॥

'Vaishampayana said: "O King, the Pandavas then rose and welcomed Vidura. After being received with respect, Vidura, the scion of the Ajamida lineage, took his seat among them and made the usual inquiries."' ॥ 3-6-10 ॥

tata utthAya viduraM pANDaveyAH; paratyagRhNana nRpate sarva eva taiH satkRtaH sa ca tAna AjamIDhò; yathòcitaM pANDuputrAna sameyAta ॥ 3-6-10 ॥
