तां तथा रुचिरापाङ्गीं विलपन्तीं सुमध्यमाम आविष्टः कलिना राजा नाभ्यभाषत किं चन ॥ ३-५६-१६ ॥

'But the king, possessed by Kali, did not utter a word in response to his queen, whose graceful eyes expressed her sorrowful lamentations.' ॥ 3-56-16 ॥

english translation

tAM tathA rucirApAGgIM vilapantIM sumadhyamAma AviSTaH kalinA rAjA nAbhyabhASata kiM cana ॥ 3-56-16 ॥

ततस ते मन्त्रिणः सर्वे ते चैव पुरवासिनः नायम अस्तीति दुःखार्ता वरीडिता जग्मुर आलयान ॥ ३-५६-१७ ॥

'At this, the councillors of state and the citizens, filled with grief and shame, returned to their homes, saying, 'He does not live.'' ॥ 3-56-17 ॥

english translation

tatasa te mantriNaH sarve te caiva puravAsinaH nAyama astIti duHkhArtA varIDitA jagmura AlayAna ॥ 3-56-17 ॥

तथा तद अभवद दयूतं पुष्करस्य नलस्य च युधिष्ठिर बहून मासान पुण्यश्लॊकस तव अजीयत ॥ ३-५६-१८ ॥

'And, O Yudhishthira, it was in this manner that Nala and Pushkara gambled for many months, with the virtuous Nala continually suffering defeat.' ॥ 3-56-18 ॥

tathA tada abhavada dayUtaM puSkarasya nalasya ca yudhiSThira bahUna mAsAna puNyazlòkasa tava ajIyata ॥ 3-56-18 ॥
